Kislépték Egyesület

The Kislépték Association is a rural development nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting small-scale farmers, local food producers, local farms, and communities. Our goal is promoting small-scale farming and related processing and marketing at local level, promoting Short Food Supply Chains (SFSC) and rural development.

To support the operation of local food producers from legal, professional, and economic perspectives, thereby contributing to the security, sustainability, and social recognition of local food supply.

The creation of a vibrant rural economy in which the production and consumption of local products are strengthened, communities become more self-sufficient, and local values gain a prominent role.

The organisation was established to address the practical challenges faced by small-scale producers, such as a complex regulatory environment, lack of information, barriers to market access, and the constraints and opportunities of sustainable operation. Building on our national and international network, we support professional development and facilitate access to knowledge that can be applied in practice.

  • 6 Experience farmer workshop – 114 experience farmers nationwide
  • 4 SFSC EXPO: The number of our exhibitors has been steadily increasing: 25 in 2021, 42 in 2022, 80 in 2024, and 118 in 2025. The number of visitors has also grown consistently: 100 participants in 2021, 200 in 2022, 600 in 2024, and 750 in 2025.
  • Preparation of a National Agrotourism Strategy as an expert partner

The Kislépték Association works to support small-scale producers, family farms, agrotourism service providers, and local food systems, including short food supply chains (SFSCs). It represents the interests of small-scale producers and service providers in Hungary and supports them in navigating regulatory frameworks. The organisation shares international good practices, develops professional materials and strategies, and organises professional events to facilitate knowledge transfer.

Our events

The Kislépték Association organises professional programmes and workshops on short food supply chains (SFSCs) for experts, producers, and consumers. These include events such as the SFSC Organisers’ Day, experience farmer programmes, and the unique SFSC Expo and Conference, which is one of a kind in the country.

As an initiator and professional partner, we contribute to and participate in training programmes on local product market management for SFSC organisers. In addition, we also organise honey sensory analysis (“honey tasting”) programmes.
