On November 17, 2015 Laura Lorenzo form World Rural Forum, the Non French speaking Europe Desk Coordinator of IYFF +10 visited to Hungary. The main purpose of her visit to meet the members Hungarian National Committee. Laura explained the huge work they made to make 2014 for the Year of Family Farming and then those extraordinary success which was achieved during 2014. Then she introduced the expanded campaign, IYFF +10 which has three main goals: (1) strengthen the works of the national committees, (2) the work of the Global Guideline for Family Farming, and (3) building work with academic, university and research institutes.
After members of the Hungarian National Committee introduced themselves and explained their expertise specially the fields they can support the work of IYFF +10 there was a discussion of the situation, the working and living conditions of the Hungarian small-scale and family farmers, their daily struggle for living.
Members of the Hungarian National Committee are committed to support effectively the raise of the living of the small-scale and family farmers and this works is greatly helped the fact they the Hungarian National Committee belongs to an organisation having such a wide network of family farming civil organisations by whom the cooperation provides great achievements. Members of the Hungarian National Committee decided at the meeting to create action groups of specific expertise responding to the wide variety of problems to be solved where members with similar expertise, experience and intention would work together. The thematic and leaders of the actions froups are the following:
Rural and Agro Tourism – FATOSZ – National Association of Rural and Agro Tourism (dr. Szalók, Csilla, Zala, Andrea)
Small-scale, artisan producers – KISLÉPTÉK (Szabadkai, Andrea, dr. Major, Ágnes)
GMO – land matters – MTVSZ – Friends of the Earth Hungary (Fidrich, Róbert)
Biodiversity, seeds – BESE Environmental Protection Association (Kiss, Dorottya)
Bio and community, social production- Dezseny, Zoltán (ÖKO Production Institute, ÖMKI)
We are requesting other members of the Hungarian National Committee to join any of the action groups and send this message to our coordinator, Dr Ágnes Major to the mail address of drmajor@t-online.hu. And we are encouraging any other interested non-members to join to the Hungarian National Committee of IYFF +10 by signing and sending this statement and to our coordinator and join any of our action group.
